Courses of the University Library
we would like to inform you about the regular courses of the Mannheim University Library on scientific literature search for economists.
Each semester we offer different courses like “Business Studies and Economics: Library Basics” and “Literature Search for Business Studies and Economics”. There are also courses for using statistical databases and reference management systems.
For detailed information on the current courses please have a look at the section of the University Library within the course overview at the student portal or at the Bachelor course catalog from the Department of Economics.
Note: All of these courses are an additional offer to the required course “Einführung in die wissenschaftliche Literaturrecherche und Datenbanken” included in the module “Wissenschaftliches Arbeiten” as a part of the Bachelor program in Economics, 2nd semester.

In an open office hour (every Tuesday from 9 am to noon) or in individual sessions (upon appointment), the academic writing consultancy advises bachelor students in all questions concerning the academic writing process. My approach is to help students help themselves; therefore, the service is not meant as a band-aid solution at the eleventh hour.
In an academic writing consultancy, students can discuss the following topics (among others):
· How do I organize my writing task in order to hand it in in due time?
· How do I start writing?
· How do I narrow down my topic or what do I do, if my topic seems to be too limited for 20 pages?
· How do I cite sources and how do I refer to them?
· What do I do if I tread water and do not come to terms with my project?
· How do I rewrite my text?
